Region settings can be made thru NavCoder software or by your dealer. maps and help other things working correctly. I realize this may be old news to some of you, but for those still pondering the same, I can now answer the questions from my OP:ġ) Yes, Mk4 nav's from other parts of the world will work but.it looks like these units require a "Region" setting, which needs to be set to "U.S." in my case, probably to read U.S. Wow! It easily took 10 years off the age of my car. If you already have the wide-nav, then the MK3>MK4 is a direct swap. Looks no different than the DVD's except I only get a few states that I will never travel into anyways.ĥ. I was able to use my friends MK4 DVD in mine to verify it works but after burning upwards of 20 different maps across DVD +R, DVD-R including a few different manufacturers, I was unable to get any burned DVD's to work and settled on a high version region specific (see #1) CD burn.
You can use your old maps with an MK4 whether they are on CD or DVD. There are custom variants out there but V32 is it.Ĥ.
I personally wouldn't have worried much about this because if the drive states DVD, you can upgrade to V32.ģ. The latest maps I was ever able to find were 2011 which was a step up from my 2003 that came w/ the car.Ģ. Ex: WA,OR,CA, and NV as one CD or DVD, then another few states for another. When I was lucky enough to find a link for the high version maps, there were like 10 different regions. My guess would be yes since the navigation was not GPS/Region specific but rather dependent on which CD or DVD was used. Does anyone happen to have a p/n for the female connector there? If I connect there, I assume the green Resler NTSC wire goes unused, correct?ġ.
